Empire Requires Sex Trafficking to Function
The lust for money and power always brings oppression
One of the interesting things about Biblical stories, particularly ones from the Old Testament, is how even though they are ancient and were written in a different context, it shows that not much about human nature has changed. Right now my church is doing a Bible study of the books of Esther and Ruth, and the thing that I see clearly in the book of Esther is how ancient sex trafficking is.
For those not familiar with the story, there is a king who was trying to convince people (and himself) of how marvellous his empire was by having parties and showing off. One day, he demanded that the queen come in to parade around in nothing but her birthday suit and crown. Queen Vashti, who was so done with the king’s bullshit, refused, which enraged the king. He was mad that his property wouldn’t do as she was told.
So he banished the queen, and decided that he was going to traffick a bunch of virginal girls into a harem and choose a new queen. They were all raped by the king at least once, and the king favored a young Jewish girl named Esther who became the new queen. In the end of the story, Esther is a heroine who has saved the Jews from being massacred because some other dude who hated one particulare Jew thought he was important. People seem to see it as this great story of salvation, and it is, but those poor sex slaves never get delivered.
I believe that the book of Esther shows us how the sin of empire really functions. When people lust for money and power, they will end up doing anything to get it, which is how we get to motherfuckers like Diddy who trafficked women and used them as sex slaves. Empire can’t function without oppression, and I really believe that sex slavery comes with the territory.
The indictment of Sean “Diddy” Combs is causing quite a stir, and there are still many people who have decided that the whole thing is a conspiracy theory which isn’t surprising since that has been used to gaslight trafficking victims basically forever. It seems that a lot of people just don’t want to admit that this shit happens.
I’ve lost friends over their refusal to believe the things that happened to me. Some have told me that they think I’m making it all up, but not on purpose. Perhaps, one said, my meds aren’t working and my therapist is failing in her duty of care. That’s so fucking insulting.
It’s sad that people will resort to believing that I’m just crazy rather than understanding that this shit really does happen to people, and that I am one of those people. Personally I don’t understand how people can know that child sex trafficking rings exist but then refuse to believe the victims.
By the way, I do believe that Diddy put out a hit on Tupac and had him murdered, because it goes along with who he is and what these kinds of people do. If they perceive someone as a threat, that someone usually ends up just disappearing one day and showing up dead. It’s part of organized crime. Now Diddy is on suicide watch because he’s a fucking coward.
I don’t believe that most people who die by suicide are cowards, but I do think Diddy is a coward who just doesn’t want to be held accountable for his horrific crimes. I’m grateful that he finally is. For me, although it’s hard, I do need to keep up with this case. I really can’t explain why, even though I’m a writer, but deep down inside it’s both triggering and healing.
Empire is fucking evil, and it requires this sort of organized crime to even function. It’s why Jesus was so against empire, and he came to bring God’s kingdom to earth, and was murdered by the Roman Empire for doing so. It’s disturbing to me that we are so committed to empire building rather than kingdom building.
I am working on putting together a list of articles and other resources that give an accurate portrayal of trafficking. It’s hard and emotional work, so if you feel inclined, take a look at the different ways to support my work below.
