The Hoarding of Wealth is Grotesque
Greed is a deadly sin for the ones who commit it but even more so for the victims
I’m not sure what I’m going to do after I no longer have access to my psychiatric medication and therapy, but I need to figure it out. I’m one of the ones that might lose Medicaid now that the “Big Beautiful Bill” was passed. I am disabled, but don’t qualify for Social Security because I don’t have enough work history here in the USA.
I also don’t qualify for Supplemental Security Income although I still don’t understand why. I have applied five times, been rejected five times, and tried to retain an attorney who said the case wasn’t winnable so they weren’t willing to take it. When it comes to healthcare, I’m royally fucked.
The current US government wants people like me to just lay down and die, it’s part of the reason they are cutting off our healthcare. Capitalism insists that people earn their right to exist by producing something of value to society. The problem is that their idea of value is physical labor. Poverty is a feature, not a bug of capitalism and it is necessary for capitalism to work.
The billionaires and the government hoard their wealth by oppressing and exploiting the poor. If I’m not able to make money for those in power, I’m worthless to society. It’s not just me, either. A lot of people are going to lose their healthcare simply because the government sees us as dollar signs rather than human beings.
True economic justice would eliminate billionaires by raising taxes on them. I know I’ve said it before and I will keep saying it: there are no ethical billionaires. When I say this I piss a lot of people off but I really don’t give a damn. Becoming a billionaire requires exploitation and that usually happens by making the poor work hard while refusing to pay a living wage. It would also include a rejection of capitalism and rugged individualism.
People like me are of no value in this oppressive system. I put in full time hours with my writing and I see very little in the way of income from it. Generally people expect writers to work for free. I’ve seen a lot of angst lately from writers who have been told that they should not charge for their work despite putting ten or more hours into each essay they write.
We are supposed to be happy by being paid with “exposure” but exposure doesn’t pay the bills. I’ve also noticed a lot of people telling writers to stop treating money like a finite resource, that there is enough for everyone. People who say this are usually peddling that toxic positivity bullshit. The thing is, resources are limited, and there’s not enough because billionaires are hoarding all the wealth.
Billionaires aren’t actually using all of their wealth, they are merely collecting it. Instead of making sure everyone has enough, they exploit the poor and steal resources. Those aren’t the actions of moral people. So technically there is enough for everyone, but there are people who take it and keep it all for themselves even though they are not using it and don’t need it.
Greed is a deadly sin, and not just for the person committing it. It causes death and destruction to all those who are the victims of our capitalist society. This exploitation exists on a global scale and many people are starving unncessarily because billionaires believe they are better than everyone else and get to hoard all the resources.
The reason Israel is committing genocide comes down the fact that the land has resources that world leaders want. Immigrants are being rounded up and trafficked to concentration camps because that makes money for those who run private prisons. I know there are people who don’t believe in evil but I don’t undersand that at all. This shit is clearly evil, it causes human rights violations just so the ultra rich can get richer. It’s wrong, and I will continue to call it out.
I’m goin to take this opportunity to ask that if you get something out of my writing to upgrade to a paid subscription. This is the only income that I have and things are about to get harder.
Here’s a song to enjoy, just because I like it and want to share it.
